Consilium Connections aspire to be a part of your journey. We will support you to explore your emotions, reflect on the challenges that life brings you and discover the tools you need to ‘grow through what you go through’.
Sometimes, there are no words and at times, there are too many. Sometimes, it seems that the words do not make sense and they seem to only make sense for you! This is what brought me to Therapy. This is how I began my journey. I wonder what brings you here and I wonder if you are able to answer the question “Why Therapy?”. More often than not I find my clients initially say they do not know and eventually they do know, but the reasons are too overwhelming. I am here and I am with you on this journey! You are not alone This is a partnership based on your needs. This is a unique partnership where you are the main agenda.
Consilium Connections was set up by Nurun Nessa, who is a Qualified Person Centred Counsellor and Psychotherapist based in East London. Nurun is currently a School based Counsellor supporting children in East London. Her specialty is working with children of primary age to adults, who work with Bereavement and other traumas . Due to covid-19 all therapy work is via online video link or telephone, for those who are digitally excluded.
Nurun has a passion for finding solace, sanctuary and peace. She believes that by sitting with our emotions, feeling and exploring them we can find solace within ourselves. Value is placed on healing through talking and being heard. Nurun brings lived experience to Consilium Connections, where therapy has helped her through challenging periods of her life.
Nurun is a part of the BAME (Black & Minority Ethnic) Community and is therefore fully aware of the challenges, inequalities and stigma in seeking help for mental and emotional wellbeing. This is what drives her to offer a non-judgemental, empathic and confidential environment. Consilium Connections therefore delivers tailored support to meet the individual needs of clients.
What is Therapy?
It is a confidential and non-judgemental space for you to explore difficult and challenging situations with your therapist. We are here to facilitate your ‘journey’- YES- you will hear this word used often in therapy because it is just that- a JOURNEY. Within this journey we will walk with you as you ‘unpick’ the knots that are tightly, and messily tied together.
We will create a safe space for you by extending honesty, empathy and no judgement. As you reflect on your life experiences Consilium Connections will listen and support you. We will also challenge and share insights with you. At times It will be hard, it will be frustrating but it will be rewarding. Consilium Connections are not there to tell you what to do, we are here to help you find the tools within yourself to find your own answers and solutions.
Areas of experience
We have experience in working with bereavement and loss related to health, relationships and employment, depression, stress and anxiety, Identity and cultural adaptation, and relationship problems. We offer short term counselling (6 weeks) and long term psychotherapy (Also referred to as Therapy), which is deeper and richer work with clients who want to explore their life so far, processing childhood and adverse life experiences.
Counselling and psychotherapy
Consilium Connections offer short-term and long-term therapy, enabling you to explore difficult and uncomfortable emotions, childhood, trauma and situations which continue to cause distress and impact on client’s everyday lives and relationships. Consilium Connections establish that this can be quite a challenging experience but we will work in line with our client. Our single sessions last 50 minutes and are usually scheduled to take place weekly.
“There is no greater agony than bearing an untold story inside
"To my mind, empathy is in itself a healing agent. It is one of the most potent aspects of therapy, because it releases, it confirms, it brings even the most frightened client into the human race. If a person is understood, he or she belongs."
How to get started
Step 1- Get in touch! It’s as simple as that. Call or email to book a free, 20 minute, assessment call. This will give you a chance to get a feel of whether Consilium Connections is right for you. Not every Therapist is the right fit for every client so it is important that clients are not charged for an assessment call as this is your time to decide whether you want to enter into a partnership with us.
Step 2-Schedule your session. The first appointment will be arranged with you and a request for background information. At this stage your contract will be sent to you and instructions for registration.
Step 3- Attend-Be present. Sign into Zoom and meet us! Give yourself 15 minutes before the session to get yourself ready. Ensuring that your device is fully charged and that you are in a private room without disturbance. During this session we will reiterate the boundaries of our alliance and the therapy itself. After this you will have weekly sessions.
